Hello! It’s
been a little over a month, and I have been busy watching hours upon hours of
television for you! Okay, I have
been watching all of these great (and awful) shows for myself, but I wanted to
let you know what you should be watching, and warn you of the shows, that must
be cut! As a fair warning and to
prevent people from yelling at me, if I don’t mention a show, it’s not because
I didn’t like the show, it just means that I don’t watch it. i.e. Parenthood, The Good Wife, Vampire
Diaries, etc.. I won’t be doing
full episode recaps of all of the shows, but I will give you a brief synopsis
of the first few episodes. Warning! Possible Spoiler Alerts!
Sunday TV is the best night of the week! There are so many great shows, so if
you only have room on your DVR for a few great shows, make sure you are
watching the following:
The Amazing Race - CBS: Granted this show is in it’s 21st
season, CBS does an excellent job finding the right pair of people to race
around the world solving clues and navigating unknown lands. Here are some teams you should be on
the lookout to win the game!
Natalie and Nadiya:
These twin sisters use humor and their strong sibling bond to navigate
each leg. They have admitted to
breaking up with their sister’s boyfriend and taking tests for each other
growing up. They are fun to watch,
and I hope they can take their game far.
They won the Express Pass in the 2nd leg, so they will have
the ability to skip any leg of the race.
Abbie and Ryan:
This dating couple won the first leg of the race this season, and with a
new twist, if they win the last leg they will win $2,000,000! This has to give them enough motivation
to backstab, lie, and race their hardest in order to win each and every leg of
the race.
Trey & Lexi:
Next to Natalie and Nadiya, they are my second favorite team. It makes it more interesting, since
these two teams have allied with each other. Their down home Texas charm and athleticism, will take this
team far.
The other teams include: 2 Chippendales workers, a rock star and lawyer, goat
farmers, married monster truckers, and substitute teachers. If you have enjoyed previous Emmy Award
winning seasons, you will be just as happy with this season!
Once Upon A Time – ABC: The sophomore season of this hit drama
starts off right where we left off.
The spell that kept all of the residents of Storybrooke woefully
ignorant of their past fairytale lives was lifted. Regina’s reign of the Evil Queen has come to a head, as the
present day residents have called for her expulsion. However, we have learned that once you leave Storybrooke,
your mind is again erased, and you don’t remember you past lives. Hopefully, poor Sneezy will get his
memory back! Episodes are divided
between present day Storybrooke, past day Enchanted Forest, and present day
Enchanted Forest that wasn’t touched by the Evil Queen’s original curse. This
season has introduced some great new characters including, Aurora (Sleeping
Beauty), Mulan, Lancelot, and the dastardly Captain Hook. I thought that once magic had been
restored to Storybrooke, that the show would go down hill, but it has delivered
great episodes this season, and it promises much more!
Revenge – ABC: If you thought that last season of Revenge had
many great twists, you won’t be disappointed with season 2! We found out what happened right before
and after the plane exploded with Victoria and Lydia onboard. Also, we fast forward to summer in the
Hamptons. Amanda Clark aka the
real Emily Thorn is pregnant with “Jack’s” baby. Emily Thorn aka the real Amanda Clark is looking for answers
from the man with gray hair, as he has the answers to the whereabouts of
Emily’s aka the real Amanda Clark’s mother! This season is also delving into new relationships between
Charlotte and her newly discovered half sister Amanda Clarke aka the real Emily
Thorn, but little does she know that Emily is her real sister! If you never
watched the show, you might think that is very soap opera’esque…you would be
correct. The character
development, plot twists, and the love hate relationship between Emily and
Victoria keep this show fresh during the first few episodes of the second
season.
666 Park Avenue – ABC: ABC
wraps up their night of great drama with a new show. I like this show, but I am not in love. ABC is obviously drawing of the success
of FX’s American Horror story, and they realize that horror shows on TV can be
well received with their audience.
With that being said, each episode of 666 draws off of classic horror
film plot lines. The main
characters are a dating couple, and they are the new managers of a luxurious
and historical apartment complex, the Drake, in New York. The owner’s of The Drake
have their own back-stories and motives for Jane and Henry as the new building
managers. The show dives into and
is currently developing the characters, so I am still intrigued. I will probably continue to watch this
to see if there is some grand scheme to all of the craziness!
Homeland – Showtime: There
is a reason Damien Lewis and Claire Danes won best actor and actress in a drama
this year at the Emmys. Season 2
picks up a few months after season 1 left off. Carrie is trying to lead a normal life after her
electroshock therapy. Her memories
are still choppy, and it leaves the audience wondering if Carrie still
remembers her last second realizations from last season! Brody is now moving his way up the
political ladder, and we get to see his ascent to possible VP candidate. If you haven’t seen this show, I won’t
give away any other spoilers, but I will tell you that this is my favorite
drama on TV right now. It keeps
you guessing, and the creators, writers, etc know how to keep you guessing
until the end of each episode. You
never know who is lying, a traitor, hiding dark secrets, having an affair, or
just crazy! If you only watch one
show on Sundays, be sure that it is Homeland.
Dexter – Showtime: Currently in the 7th season,
Dexter continues to entertain audiences.
I am not sure how I feel about the plotline this season, but the superb
acting of Michael C. Hall makes the show great season after season. After last year’s shocking revelation,
Deborah is trying to make sense of her emotions. She was grappling with her newfound feelings of love for
Dexter, but then she sees him killing Travis at the end of last season. My favorite plotline this season is the
fact that LaGuerta is also getting close to Dexter’s truth. This season makes the audience ponder;
can Dexter really control his Dark Passenger? It also continually raises the question, is killing murders
wrong? This has been a theme for
all of the seasons past, yet this season Deborah is trying to help Dexter
suppress his desires to kill. As
this show is the lead-in to Homeland, I always try to watch it first. Like I said before Michael C. Hall
deserves great rewards for his work, but it’s time to make room for
Homeland!
The Walking Dead – AMC: I have just started watching this show
on Netflix, and I will definitely continue to watch. I am only on season 2, so I won’t write much, however, it’s
a great show! Like all great
dramas, there is always a feeling of suspense and unanswered questions. I am currently recording season 3, so I
hope to catch up over Christmas break.
So, I hope you like really long posts, as this one is
insanely long-winded! What shows
do you most enjoy on Sunday nights?
Are you more of a drama or comedy person? Let me know!
